In 1889 Swiss hotelier Cesar Ritz, theatrical impresario Richard D’Oyly Carte, and celebrated chef Auguste Escoffier teamed up to create what was to become London’s fabled Savoy Hotel. The result was an establishment unlike any other that was run in mysterious, extravagant, and often scandalous ways.
